Vanilla bean
I have 6 quarts of 130 proof on oak. I wanna add vanilla bean to a couple of them but don't know how much. I am thinking only about 1/4 of a bean per qt. Any advice?

Re: Vanilla bean
I added 1/2 bean split in half to 750ml of 100 proof Vodka along with some Chared Oak chips for three weeks ... it was nice but not really much different than adding Vanilla Extract ... Sometime try Black Walnut Extract ... yummy!

Re: Vanilla bean
personally I would take 200ml of 96% and put 6-10 vanilla beans in there and let it sit for some time to make a pure extract... then you can add a small amount at a time till desired effect.

Took 2 of tje quarts and split a bean between them. Split it and scraped the inside. After reading some in the thread that Bushman linked to, I may add some orange peel to one of them also.

Re: Vanilla bean
I calculate to use a bit over 1/3rd of an inch of bean per quart of proofed likker when using once used oak, like barrel chips.
New oak doesn't need any.
