Newbie from Washington State

Post by turks50 »

Howdy ya'll. Just chekin in here following protocol. I am from Washington state and new to distilling. I am in the middle of my 2nd run shine ever. First run went ok but had a weak mash. Only came out with 24 ounces of 80 proof. Using a one gallon onion top still. 2nd run is going better. I got 12 ounces of 100 proof out of my first one gallon run. Not too bad. As with anything we are always still learning and I am hearing this is the best site to do that from. I look forward to picking the brains of the masters here as I am working my way through this. Hope ya'll have a great evening.

Welcome, we must be a huge pack of drunks because there are a heck of a lot of Washingtonians in the forum.

Read, read, then read some more. A good place to start is to read all the info at the parent site, then ALL the stickys at the top of the "New to Distillation" area. 99.999% of the answers to your intial questions will be in there

Another Washingtonian. Welcome. Are you on the wet side or the dry side of the state?

Washington here too :D Are you from the dry side or wet side?

I suggest starting with the first 2 links in my signature and hope you cleaned that still before drinking anything from it. The parent site has a lot of good information but has some bad info too. We are currently trying to go through it and get rid of all the bad information but at the moment it is still there so be aware of that.
