I got one of these about 9 months ago. It had 2 ageing cycles through it at Balcones. It is working very nicely for an apple brandy but I would have been disappointed if I had put whiskey in it as it is pretty spent. I called on this new lot being offered and was told these only have one aging cycle so they should be better. I would call before ordering to confirm what your getting but the price is nice at $89.00 and flat rate $20.00 shipping. YMMV
I have one of these with an oak/barley whiskey inside that has been aging since December. I'm happy with it. At one time I bought a used 8 gallon barrel from the same people and I'm very happy with that one. Much thicker wood and less loss to the angles. Plus the bung hole is bigger and very easily accepts charred oak sticks to help out since the barrel is used.
