Best Brother Award
This month's Best Brother Award goes to my Bro. I was telling him a few days ago how expensive barrels were and how some day I may be up for filling a small barrel some day. Well three days later (today) fedEx shows up with these two, 2 liter barrels and one, 5 liter barrel. Thanks Bro.

Now you just need to decide what exactly to put in them

Sweet!
Good guy, that brother of yours.
Someone's going to be getting some complimentary drink!
Here's the kind of thing my brother gets me...

Now, fill a 2-liter cask for him...
This is what I gave my brother (twin) for his 60th birthday, and it was filled with 2-liters of malt whiskey.

Re: Best Brother Award
The 5 liter is getting filled with Honey Bear Bourbon. I've done four rounds of HBB, all aged in jars with sticks, and I just started fermenting what WAS going to be my final batch. (Final batch for now, because I feel I have the recipe nailed and want to move on to something new.) My batchs have not yielded 5 liters of 62% ( closer to 4 liters), so there will have to be one more batch following what is fermenting now so I can fill the 5 liter. Oh darn!Pikey wrote:Now you just need to decide what exactly to put in them![]()

Not sure exactly what will go into the 2 l barrels yet, but thinking about the possibilities makes my mouth water. One will be a rum, for sure.

Nice art work. Who did it for you? At PROOF there was a company that etched custom bottles, but I did not notice if they also etched/burned wood.still_stirrin wrote:Now, fill a 2-liter cask for him...

Well...I did it. I made a tracing of my avatar and transferred it onto the cask top. Then, spent hours burning it into the wood. It was a gift...so, the time spent was worthy of the gift...including the whiskey within the cask. A gift...is a gift. And you only turn 60 once in your life.OtisT wrote:...Who did it for you?
