Airtight aging?
I'm currently aging two gallons of AG at 60% outside under a tree. I'm using charred oak cubes and It's contained in two one gallon screw cap jugs. I'm curious...am I just wasting my time as the jugs have screw top lids? The color is changing but I'm not sure if I should cork them instead or maybe use cheese cloth and rubber bands to to get better airflow? Can the oak sponge the likker in an airtight container?

Don't overthink what you have . It will change over time without being in a barrel . We uncovered a half gallon of blended all feints last weekend that had had one breath of air for 30 seconds in the last 13 months . It was pronounced fit and impressive by the same folks that blended it at the last party .

Amazing chemistry goes on in a sealed container.
And even more so stored "under a tree".

I've read somewhere to keep em out of direct sunlight, even more so if they are in a clear glass jug.
Not sure of the importance or the technical aspect of it, just thought it may apply here

That's a good point Swedish Pride.
I had found this thread when I wondered about that myself.
Since there may be no beneficial affect, maybe darkness is the better choice.

i've had great spirits age out in sealed glass. if there is no heads blended in, in the first place, they don't have to off gas.
one of the nuclear reactor space time continuum guys uses a blast of light in his reactor to help distress age the wood (like the boards on your deck was the idea) it's a sort blast of light from what i understand...not like 8 months baking in the sun.
i took two bottles from a barrel and put them on a windowsill for two days and liked the results!
