Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
My rig, column, 2" copper with about 30" of packing. I have been making whiskey, so a low reflux kinda short column works for me.
Everyone has to believe in something. Me? I believe I'll have another drink......
Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
Brewhaus Model PSII Reflux (CM), 8 gallon.
Stainless, packed with copper. Added natural cork topper & column insulation.
Plain & store bought. Not as fancy as some of yours, for sure! So I posted her on a blue matte to be different.
But she makes a fine neutral and is convertible to a pot still.
Has produced whiskey, Birdwatcher's, and Honey Bear. Excelsior!

This is a setup I used for a workshop at Auckland Botanical Gardens. We distilled conifers of different types to compare yeild, aroma notes. Used the Alquitar to make a traditional type Attar - Honeysuckle onto Sandalwood EO.

Making Gin in a little Alquitar. 2 Litres of grain spirit in 40 % abv, 1 litre out at 80% abv - nice to dilute back to 45% to keep the aromatics bright.
Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
15 gallon keg converted into a boiler and an 8 gallon keg converted into a thumper.

Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
The photos are reversed. CM Reflux on the top, Pot mode on the bottom.
Pot- 8 G SS Boiler, 1500w Still Heater element on controller, 1650w Element, 2" X 20" with one Copper Plug, 45 degree w/ thermowell n dig therm, 2" 90, 24.5"X2" Shotgun Condenser w/ 7X3/8" vapor tubes, 2"X3/4" endcap reducer
Reflux- 36"X2" packed w/ copper mesh, Sight glass, 6"X2" Dephlegmator w/ 3X1/2" vapor tubes. Everything from the pot still mode, push connect fittings. 30g Trashcan Reservoir, with two seperate pumps, so cooling is run straight in and out on each condenser. Needle valve on outlet of the Dephlegmator.
nothing too fancy, but i'm happy with it. Handles the full 3125W for stripping, at pretty fast speed. Only done one reflux run, but pulled 90% so pretty happy. If i add the 20"X2" packed i think i could hit 95%. But doing that requires me to get on a ladder and to collect on a table on a countertop. And i can't see the sightglass from the ground.

Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
OK, my humble craft tools in a bit better light...
It has no vertical section and a steam pipe is very thin. So, it's useful for stripping runs only.
That small thumper-looking thing (between pot and chiller) is a bad "thumper" in fact. Some "samogon drunkoholic adepts" place their herbs or drop charcoal inside... but in my religion it's always empty. Its only sense is to prevent wort runaway into low wines on foaming.
Well, here we have sorta all-stainless LM boka. The scrubbles section (filled with copper or inox) is about 85cm and it's quite OK for fractioning of the vodka-like neutral alco. But at 350-400ml per hour at best, as its internal d is 22..23mm only. Dimrot coil is stainless, too. But its heat exchange is well coordinated with a max.possible heat. In theory I could get spirits as steam from the thermometer's hole but I never cared of it. What I do care about is a "dry pipe selection" of malty or fruity things when reflux is nil and heat is lower than average. Dry scrubbles do it not bad with the first half of the hearts.
P.S. Induction heating(almost stepless adjustment) / the heat it stable and nothing burns to the bottom...

Thank you for the comments.
Well... if the steam path is not trough thumper, then thumper is filled with watter...to the middle of the glass.
Then condensation is reduced to min. almost no condensation. Buti if it is some condensation, it goes back trough siphon.
Other option is...empty thumper and steam path trough thumper( then thumper has no function), but the temperature will be same as steam temp..and no condensation.
and generally steam flow is controledd by running water( white valve close to blue arow).

realised that might be some confussion at shematic drawing.
so I made some correction to make more clear how "siphon" is builded
