New to the distilling world

Post by Denboy »

Hi everyone new guy on the block just getting started in the home distilling hobby bought a 8 gal SS still and a 3500 kw induction burner, right now I have a sugar mash fermenting and I guess my first step is to run a vinegar run to clean it. I’m a little nervous with the first run even though I know it won’t be a good one. I guess cross my fingers take notes and learn

Don't worry that will be the sacrificial run after the vinegar run.

From one new guy to another, it's best to read as much as you can.

You ain't seen nervous until you've seen me tackle a new recipe.
The secret is follow a recipe step-by-step that's all been laid out like in the Tried & True Recipes on the main page.

Ya know that's one of the things I see new guys do all the time. They take a recipe that is tried and true and skip some steps, then they come back and say," I did this recipe and it didn't work." All you have to do is follow the recipe exactly if it's in the tried and true section and it will work, those guys didn't add extra steps for fun.

Hey and welcome aboard, I'm not on much these day but if I can help you out just say the word.

You are at the right place. You can learn much here. Welcome aboard.
When I was a boy, I prayed for a bicycle. I soon learned G~d doesn't work like this so I stole a bike and prayed for forgiveness.
