A decade later.

Post by Nabatean »

Hi fellow alchemists

After a decade of work in the middle east, I am back in a country where one doesnt risk 500 lashes for enjoying a good glass of grapejuice at sundown.

Since its now February and very little to harvest for fermentation, I started with maceration.

Limoncello in wodka is my first trial wich I hope to taste end of February.

I plan this year to use whatever grows in my garden (and the neighbours one) :D
Mainly blackcurrant, redcurrant, rhubarb, quince, apples, pears, meddler, hazel and elderberry. Maybe even mistletoe.

Since pine shoots are expected first (in a few weeks), I hope to make a maceration of these shoots. I love the Hungarian Unicum and that drink has a strong pine taste.

Anyway, hope to continue learning from you guys.

Thanks for reading this ramble

I can't EVEN imagine the culture shock either going to Saudi or coming back after a long stay there.
Good luck with the fruit runs, and welcome back!
BTW... careful with the mistletoe. Even small amounts can be a gastrointestinal nightmare.

Thanks Fizzix

Indeed a shock to be in snow, ice and cold.
Not to mention perpetual grey skies.
How you guys dont get depressed in winter is a mystery. Come to think of it ..... a good shot in the evening after dinner, sounds better than Prozac

Thanks for warning on mistletoe.

PS Hope yr avatar is ref to the Dark Side of The Moon :)

I love a Floyd themed thread :). Especially a good sign when it's a welcome thread.

Welcome!

Welcome!

We might not agree on the best drink in the world (which IMO obviously should be scotch or gin) but I hope we agree that wish you were here is in the top 3 of best albums EVER produced.

In deed. It usually is my avatar, but apparently the Christmas spirit is strong in this one.

I mean, you did read my name, right lol?
