Benjamin Franklin wrote a scientific paper on farting. I don't think he broke his foot doing it though, just wind.

It is better to let one rip than hold it inside.

Great Saturday!
Got further compliments (family) on my Odin's Gin. Cooked up 18 gallons of Still Life's rye and the fermenters are alive. Ordered a stainless steel carbon filter system for making neutral more, uh, neutral.
Also my status upgrade kicked in so I'm not on the welfare system here anymore. If you're not a site donor, please consider it. Look at what this place provides!
(Thank goodness for the DELETE option on posts, too. I had one helluva gin drunk ramblethon typed here about 1a.m. and could still smell the alcohol when I re-read and deleted it at 3a.m.)
Loves me some Home Distiller!

Hay, not to worry, a ramblethon down here in the cellar is good. Actually I find this thread somewhat entertaining....

Re: Hijack my thread
Another hijack!
Just finished distilling the first 6 gallon round of Still Life rye tonight and I'm very pleased with it. I apply projection to new white distills such as this one.
Projection came by accident via Odin's Cornflake Whiskey. I had just come off of numerous turbo runs, found Home Distiller, but my taste buds were too late ruined.
Tried Odin's Cornflake and hated it white. It wasn't just a few months later with it in a little 3 liter charred oak barrel when I tasted it again and it blew my sh#t away!
With some white left over I can now sample that, then immediately follow up with the oak-aged and note the wonderful difference. That allows a projection of what other whites have in potential.
Now no one told me there'd be math to make moonshine. Some great veterans here have tolerated my queries about PPG and Diastatic Power and have helped me immensely.
Teach a man to fish is the policy here and it's a good policy. Never looked up so much sh#t, even in my porn days!
I think a good goal for a Home Distiller member is to donate some money and donate help to those just starting or those otherwise needing a hand.
And if you've been drinking Odin's Gin & tonic, Hijack My Thread is a good place to ramble. Peace out as the kids say.

Walked out of Aldi's with 60 lbs. of sugar and 6 cans of tomato paste for $32.29
This should keep me off the streets for a couple of weeks and it's a nice break from the pricy grains of late. Need to make more Odin's gin because personal demand is high.
Then onto another cheapie: Booner's Casual Corn. Hold all my calls please.

Went to a pub crawl sponsored by my favorite grain shop. Remained at "home central" at the grain shop because we didn't intend on staying long.
Had some dynamite oat malt homemade beer that was like an 8% milkshake. I now understand oat mouthfeel!
Felt like a square peg, though. While making new friends, it seemed EVERYbody was into beer brewing and I was the lone distiller.
Are we that rare amongst such gatherings? Felt like I had little to offer verbally, but they all sure wished I'd brought samples!

This video shows a 150 year old museum piece wrecking havoc over in Syria. Subjected to embargoes as they are, some of the factions there have resorted to making their own weapons. It looks like they can elevate and rotate this bronze antique with hydraulics. They might be using modern era propellants in the cannon though, which is a good reason to stand way back and have that extra long lanyard to yank on in case the barrel erupts. Looks like old fashioned cannon balls are still having the desired effect.

The wife wanted fish tonight and left for quite a while. When she got back she was laughing her ass off.
Know what day this is for the Catholics?? The place was PACKED and she couldn't even get out of the parking lot.

Re: Hijack my thread
I did it and caught hell for it.
Now it's your turns to deal it to me.
Odin's Gin was flowing like, well, gin last night, and boy was I lit.
(No hangover this morning by the way.)
The still was cooking in reflux and had a drip per second last I looked.
Closed my eyes just to rest them, and next thing I know the wife is calling from the top of the stairs (I snore loudly).
Jar was half full so no liquor loss. Boy did I deserve the lecture though.
.......................
.........................
I'm back on the gin tonight now and a little buzzy. The still's heating up and the wife stopped by to shake her finger at me.
At least I think it's the shaking finger.

Re: Hijack my thread
Got another beer brew bucket and went with an "S" style airlock after using nothing but the 3-piece kind.
Maybe I'm loaded, but the S-style is funner to watch. Plus if there was suck back for any reason, it's bi-directional whereas the 3-piece isn't.
Ran outta tonic water since the last post, and am on Crow's Rum and Coca Cola now.
The still is dripping. Three Birdwatchers and one Honey Bear BEER are bubbling.
I'm feeling the Crow's flow. Anyone want to arm wrestle?

My 5+ year old hop garden. Willamette on the left.
After some rhizomes had failed on the right, they were out of Willamette and I've forgotten what I planted.
Still, nothing seems to want to flourish on the right, except extreme right is a climbing rose bush that has defied every attempt to get rid of it.
It has earned its stay out of sheer defiance of death and elimination.
