So you know how you can get Mexican coke and it's made with cane sugar?
Has anyone ever added something like EC1118 to that?
The reason I ask:
I made a rum & coke using the cane sugar coke tonight.
For grins I added the bottom of the growler of apple cider I had made with EC1118 yeast.
This drink ( about 24 ounces, hey go big or go home) has been foamy / fizzing now for half an hour!
The foam just won't die.
I think it must be the yeast acting on the cane sugar!
Not at all unpleasant, just strange!!

Coke in Australia is also made with cane sugar..I think its used in a lot of countries not just Mexico ....I wondered why the Coke in the US tasted weird when I was there.
Someone told me its made with corn syrup as a sweetener?

Almost every Mexican restaurant here in Texas has bottles of Coke 'Hecho en Mexico' with cane sugar. So do all of the Hispanic grocery stores and HEB in South Texas. Coke now has its own green bottle product that I think is partly cane sugar. There was a Dr. Pepper franchise bottler in Dublin, TX that got in trouble with the main DP company by advertising a cane syrup Dr. Pepper in direct competition against the main company and its own fructose corn syrup bottlers. Needless to say Dublin lost THAT battle and also their franchise.
