Part five: What is the Body of Whiskey?
Some whiskies feel thin and others more oily this is called the body of whiskey. Keep your glass at a 45 degree angle, swirl it around 360 degrees. Right the glass and see the tears running down the bowl of the glass. The thinner and runnier the tear, the higher the percentage of alcohol, the slower the more complex and oily the whiskey is.

Part six: The Finish
Finish or aftertaste of whiskey, this is after you have swallowed. After swallowing the whiskey does the taste linger or quickly disappear?

If you google Whiskey Nosing Glasses and click on images you will find a lot of different styles all with a common theme.

Charles Maclean’s whisky wheel is a personal favorite, but I have a sheet from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society that I refer to often as well.
Both help me identify flavors and smells that at times, are hard to identify.

Free downloads: https://www.smws.com/blog/news/download ... sting-kit/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Another source for a number of tasting wheels: https://www.topsimages.com/images/charl ... el-d8.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Hope this help out others as well.

Cheers,
Irish

I have a great app on my iPhone for wine and wish there was one for whiskey. The app is called Vivino and the app looks like this.

This app allows you to take a picture of the bottle (does not save as a picture on your phone in photo’s) it then gives information about average cost and is rated by others with description of the wine as it relates to all the areas we have discussed on this thread.
