I would like to start making rum and have found this Demerara sugar at the bulk barn.
"Demerara style sugar is actually a brown sugar with coarse crystals and contains up to 15% of natural molasses."
Could I use this, rather than combine sugar and molasses? The sugars are rated 96 and brown sugar is only 4, with fancy molasses rated at 60. All say 0 for Sugar Alcohol.
I searched and found references to people using it, but not a straight up Demerara sugar recipe.
