Grain amounts and OG

Hey everyone, I’m curious to find out what are some grain to water ratios? Currently, I’ve been using 3lbs grain per gallon of water. It’s been working, but it definitely adds up in the weight of grains. I lose about 3-4 gallons of mash to retention. I’m also interested in what are some OG people are getting in AG batches? I’ve had about 1.030-1.050. Since I’m very new to this hobby, I’m. It sure if that’s a good start? I seem to have good results. I’m looking forward to some feed back. Thanks all.
