I had a bottle of feints stored away for about 6 months at 55%, mixed from a sugar wash and a wheated/corn run. Anyone seen anything like this before? It kinda looks gelatin like but also like crystals. Not sure what to make of it. It smells and tastes fine.
Anyone seen this in their feints before?

Looks kinda like how my foreshots look on a sac run with flux in them.
Could be any number of things from jar lid plastisol to minerals in proofing water, dirty jar, oils falling out of solution... hard for me to make a good guess just by looking.

It is very likely that they are substances that have naturally separated over time. It's hard to know exactly what it is, but I think higher oils and alcohols are partly involved along with some minerals.

I’ve seen this stuff in spirits that went deep into the tails before. Not sure what it is. My guess is that it as previously stated, “minerals.” Others will chime in with sage advice I’m sure.

🎱 The struggle is real and this rabbit hole just got interesting.

If my feints are two jars, heads and tails then the tails gets these. One jar of everything then not really. Stripping runs that have a golden hue to them will be clear and get this settle in the bottom. I did mix some in with high abv heads and they go away. Melt. I heard it is fusel oils and can believe that local minerals in the water might bring them out. Back in the boiler and they go away.

Id decant it off the oily stuff carefully so if i ran the feints or added them to a run that stuff wouldnt be in there. I reckon its the milky oils of tails that fell out of solution and coagulated.
