Hello! Homebrewer turned Home Distiller here

Post by DisLexi »

Hello lovely people!
I go by Lexi, as I am dyslexic, and my usernames usually are “dyslexics untie” but I usually mess it up so Lexi it is.

I am located in the northwest of NA.
In my day job I work with individuals with disabilities.

Now for the reason I am here and my experience so far.

There is a large apple orchard near my place (it also has its own distillery) and they will press their apples for you at 6 bucks a gallon. It is some of the best cider I have ever had, and even better, it ferments like crazy.

I have been making hard apple cider for roughy 2 years now, and have just gotten into distilling.

My current goals are to make apple brandy, as well as work on tweaking UJSSM to incorporate apple with it.
I am running a cheap 5 gal still that I have been slowly modifying to meet my needs. So far I have made a thumper keg and replaced much of the SS parts of the still with copper.

I am always open to learning and constructive criticism, so I am excited to be on this forum.

Welcome, you will want to follow the many fruity threads of our friend Cranky.
Cranky has done much with apples, and is a fellow NW member.

Oh don’t worry, Cranky is basically my idol right now. I have been just reading everything they have posted in my down time. I have a memory disorder so it takes me a few times to get it into my brain, but persistence will prevail.

Thank you for the welcome, I am excited to be active in this community!
