Little or nothing to do with distillation.

Instagram follower kinda weird.

Post by Prairiepiss »

I got a notification that Milehigh distilling started following me on Instagram. I am finding this quite strange of why they would start following me on there. I am pretty sure I don’t have anything linked to here. I have nothing on there about this hobby. Just really kinda strange and creepy maybe even a little scary. I have never done business with them. Have had no real dealings with them.

If you have ever googled MileHi they may have got information that way. I know I get email messages from a few distilleries and I think it is probably from one of the ADI conferences I attended and probably signed up at a vendor booth.

Yeah they are SD followers.
Made some strangely complimentary comments.
There is a history there so seems counterintuitive.
Maybe that Mike chappy sold it and they got new peeps trying to find/understand their place?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. These social media sites are set up to make recommendation on with whom to connect based on some pretty advanced algorithms. They know the more connections made, the more time you will spend on the their site which in turn provides greater ad revenue. They factor in and compare like interests, activities, mutual followers, etc. Keep in mind, the parent company is Facebook. They have more data on us than what we know. My guess is Mile Hi simply connected with you (and hundreds of others) simply based on these algorithms that suggest to Mile Hi that you fit the profile of a potential customer/someone who has an interest in making alcohol.

right off you IP address. My daughter looked at an electric toothbrush on amazon and all ive seen for the last 3 days (starting 15 minutes after she looked at it) is electric toothbrush ads.

one day at work...with my cell phone sitting on the counter, me and buddy start talking about the lake cabin he's building. I asked whatcha doin' for a foundation? he sez "screwpiles"

i get home a couple hours later and my computer is full of ads for screwpiles...i mean really...how many times in your life have you talked about screwpiles? Coincidence? I think not...

And this right here is why I dont have a social media account. I am not a product for Mark Zuckerberg to sell to the highest bidder. What I do or what my interests are is none of his f'ing business. It's bad enough that Amazon bombards me with email ads for shit I price checked one time on thier website.

once a month PP? consider yourself blessed. I get as many as 2 every day, same stuff Credit card repair,

police fund, canceling my SS number, etc. yesterday I have no idea what the call was about but they were

going to file charges. I pushed the button and can't print what that a$$h0.e got in his ear. the most irritating

is a recorded voice from a spoofed number that announces in a death metal voice that I am going to go to hell.

I have at least 200 numbers blocked from that message. I used to wish I had a FU button on my computer,

but now I need one on my phones also.

edit: NO social media of any kind for me.

Typically I handle those by pressing the number to speak to the representative. First question is "Can I have your name please?"

If you respond with "Officer Johnston, *insert name of local law enforcement force* Fraud Investigation Division" - you can then go enjoy your latest drink creation with the small bit of satisfaction that the little so-and-so just had a minor heart attack right before they hung up.

We were getting so many unsolicited calls that we ended up switching service provider and phone number. By the end I would either hand the phone to one of kids, or put it in a metal tin and whack it with a wooden spoon. The first time my kids saw me do that they were so pleased that the next time it rang they brought me the phone and the tin!

On answering an unknown caller, I generally respond with either "Sheriff's Department" or FCC (Federal Communications Commission) Fraud Division, sends most of them scurrying. On other calls I will let them ring out and call them back. Most of the time the robocallers will have changed to a new number.
It it a coincidence that every time we see a health care provider, I get about eight phones calls offering supplemental Medicare coverage? Yes, your doctor, utilities providers, mortgage companies/ banks sell your info.
There are federally sponsored "Do not call" registries that will keep most of the calls down, but some of these vultures just see it as a challenge.
My elderly dad received an upsetting phone concerning medical back payments, collection agents and asset seizures. He had no outstanding bills but these piranha had him scared shitless.

On Android you can turn off targeted ads which I did but then you may get some really strange adds because they are not related to what you are interested in and it doesn't stop them from collecting your information anyway.

I think we could get volunteers if your looking for grandkids. But getting her out of your house .... that takes skills beyond our powers.
