DAP brain fart

Post by Hambone »

So was scaling up Shady’s Sugar Shine, tripling.

Added 3x the amount of DAP, but had already tripled it. It seemed like a lot, but I was zoned out.

So is this wash screwed? I’ve heard excess DAP in an alkaline wash could cause problems. My pH started at 7.4 due to my hard well water, but an hour or so was down to 6.5 so it seems to be progressing.

My concern would be off flavors, of course. But I haven’t personally experienced such a monumentally stupid overdose.

Thought?

Keep the temp steady and moderate, 80's. It will probably finish without much drama. The yeast will probably run out of sugar before they consume all the nutrients. Great thing about humble starting gravaties. If you did everything else right, relax and enjoy a homebrestilled  .

Thanks SCD. I was kicking myself, but it’s going like gangbusters. Starting gravity was 1.070…think the DAP was my only screwup…

We will see
