Boka heli coil construction
I bought this boat winch at harbor freight for about $22. I replaced the shaft with a 5/8"OD steel rod I scavenged off an old pressure washer. I bought the pillow block on ebay for about $3.00, also the little U grove bearing for 98c. I filled tubing with 55cc of salt...dont know why anyone would need a vibrator sander because the salt filled the tube quickly by gravity. I went ahead and filled 5 pieces cut to 10ft each....even tho I only planned on needing one. My wife operated the winch.
I bent one end around the U groove bearing and tie wrapped it to the shaft. The first row of 15 coils wrapped around the 5/8" shaft. I removed the pillow block and inserted the chrome brass plumbing 1-1/4" 20ga thickness tail piece over the row of coils. I did cut the brass tail piece lengthwise using a die grinder cut off wheel. I tighten it using a hose clamp somewhat. I continued wrapping the tubing for the second row. As the coil got longer I moved the hose clamp down a little. I removed the helicoil from the shaft, removed the brass tail piece spacer, cut off the ends and used a 1/4" John Guest push fitting attached to a garden hose to flush the salt. It took me less than one hour to wind all five coils, but about 45min each to remove the salt.
