Why cant we attach pics to Instant Messages?

Is it just on my settings, or is the site set up that we can't attach pictures or files to IMs and emails?
It sure would be nice to be able to attach a picture of things that other members are asking questions about.

Probably the same reason for files of any sort; it could become a medium for inappropriate content, hence a liability.

I think it is a rule what made sense ten or fifteen years ago. But now do you really think two people register here, write a few post until they get the permission to send PMs and then send each other child porn pictures in measly 800px quality? Probably meanwhile it is relative easy to send mp4 videos using other platforms than phpbb-forums unfortunately.

There are easier ways to consume bandwidth than by attachments in PMs.

Also too many meta data identifiers.
People rarely remember to check there surroundings when crossing a road let alone consider checking an image for geo-data & other elements that may get them & others fingered (no pun intended)
