Here is my great deal today. A good friend has a job turning stainless steel parts on a lathe and he brought me this bag of stainless shavings to see if I could use it for packing. I’ll need more than a few more bags before I’ll have enough to try in my 4”. It’s really light and has a lot of air space so I think I will try to compress and form this stuff into consistent round bricks. This will be a project for down the road a bit, and it will be fun comparing this to my rocks.

I’d be happy with that Otis .
Believe a good boil up in washing soda ( Sodium Carbonate ) and a rinse should remove most cutting fluids , but RC al has a good point .

I've only ever caught one white king, probably 25 years ago. But damn if that didn't smoke up to be the best smoked salmon I ever made.

King salmon are also called chinook. Is there also a red and white chinook, or is a chinook one specific type of king? I’m so confused. I guess I have some reading to do.

A King is more of a US term for a Chinook. A Tyee refers to the size of a Chinook and is any Chinook over 30 lbs.

I’ve replaced a liebig with Twisted Brick’s exceptional 2” shotgun plus a couple 3” copper spools and picked up a copper onion/helmet (the helmet’s too fucken shiny!) that I’m considering how to mod it into a modular vertical mini-thumper (w/downcomer) with options to also configure with a 12” or 36” copper packed column and ccvm reflux.

Cleaning runs soon and planning to replace some SS elbows and tee with all copper. Ongoing…

Cheers!

Paid 50.00 for a complete used 59 gallon white oak barrel. I just wanted the wood. I broke it down and will run it through the bandsaw and planer for aging sticks and dominoes as necessary. Should keep me going for a while
If in doubt leave it out.

How big are the heads?
You could possibly cut maybe six heads for badmotivator 'barrels', three from each end...
Fix two slats across on the inside to hold the pieces in place???

Geoff, heads are 21.5 inches and thanks for the reminder on the Badmo barrels. That is an excellent idea

Came in to work to find this lovely cherry wood on my desk.
Still needs to dry out a bit but it's destined for the seasoning pile then I'm gonna drown it in new make.

I have driven by many, stopped at a few masked up. this piece was the only

guy thing at the sale, setting in the center of a very nice table with some other

non tool decorations/ nicnacs, and glass stuff. Still half full of oil.

It's new home will be the oiler shelf with the other pump oilers and zip spouts.

It took two pieces of TP to wipe the film off and render it usable.

I was at the local farm market with Mrs Cranky and noticed this pile of pumpkins
FREE PUMKINS 17 NOV 21 #3A - C.jpg
With this sign above it
FREE PUMKINS 17 NOV 21 #4A - C.jpg
FREE PUMKINS 17 NOV 21 #4A - C.jpg (10.61 KiB) Viewed 1537 times
:esurprised:

So I grabbed one and set it in the cart. Mrs Cranky asked why I was getting that and of course the answer was "Because it's free, DUH!"

When we went through the checkout I asked how many free pumpkins I could have. The Kid behind the counter said "all of them" :wtf: I said I'll be back in a half hour with my truck...then Mrs Cranky said "No you won't" and turned to the kid and said "Don't tell him things like that, he can only have one" :(

I tried to talk her into letting me fill up the back of our escape, then just a cart full but she wouldn't budge. I know she's right that I don't have space or time to deal with 1,000 lbs of pumpkins but I really want to make some pumpkin brandy and this was the perfect opportunity to make some from my favorite kind of pumpkins... Free pumpkins someone else picked  .

"I keep thinking I need to make a couple more stops at Cousin It and see if I can snag another 4 or 5 buckets before they all fall off the tree."
"So I stopped by Cousin It and quickly picked a bucket of apples Saturday to help make up what will be missed from the black and the other."
"Then Yesterday I had 10 minutes to spare (It's crazy how little spare time I have these days) I stopped and picked what I could off the other tree in the yard as the black."
"At some point in the past week I also stopped and picked what the church tree had to give."
"Yesterday I stopped and picked a bucket of apples from the black apple tree. They are running 75 to a bucket and today I picked the little tree in my front yard and got another 3/4 bucket which brings the total on hand to just under 5 buckets."
"I stopped at a new tree on my way home today and picked 3 more buckets of apples."
"I stopped once again today and picked one more bucket full."
"I stopped Tuesday on my way home and picked another bucket of apples from Cousin It."
"I also stopped at the black and picked another bucket and a half."
"I got one more bucket of blacks today."

Well it's not still related but I got a new lease on life after a 4 day stay in the hospital and one stent. It's a good thing too because I have some panty dropper to finish and some jalapeno rye to make . lol Last Friday night I had a stress induced afib episode. This led to a mild heart attack. I had one complete blockage on the right side of my heart but all of the tests showed that I had little to no damage. A 4 day hospital stay in exchange for my life I think is the best deal ever.
