one or two runs with a pot still?

I have a pot still. So far I have been doing a strip run then a spirit run.
Wondering what the advantage of doing both.
If I want a neutral then two is good.
If I want gin then 3.
But for a rum, what is the advantage of the spirit run?
If I want more flavour then just one run would be better?

At this stage i am not adding fresh wash, dunder or oils.
