Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
Great app, I've uninstalled others calc apps as your calc combines all the functions of several apps I have been using.
I noticed a typo in the liqueur calc which asks for mg of sugar but think it should be gm

Great app. Everything in one place.
Can I suggest adding temperature correction when using an Alcometer

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
Hmmm, alcometer = hygrometer?
If so it has that, 'specific gravity adjustment' on the conversions tab

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
Might have the terminology wrong but Alcometer measures alcohol abv / proof in distilled product. Hydrometer measures SG? I thought the temperature correction for both was different.
Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
like the one you would use in beer then?

Sorry if I’m confusing you with bad terminology but relatively new to this hobby. Put a link to a conversion above. I thought this table for correcting temperature was different to the conversion in your app. I use a hydrometer for measuring specific gravity at start and finish of ferment, and Alcometer for measuring alcohol content of distilled product.

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
ah ok, sure. Yeah I can add that in.. I'll have to look into it, the ABV adjust turned out to not be as simple as it seemed.

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
so for gallons, you guys use decimals right? like 1.55 gallons? or do you break it down to oz. ?
the online calculators I'm seeing seem to use decimals...

hygrometer, instrument used in meteorological science to measure the humidity, or amount of water vapour in the air. Several major types of hygrometers are used to measure humidity.
A hydrometer is an instrument used to determine specific gravity. It operates based on the Archimedes principle that a solid body displaces its own weight within a liquid in which it floats. Hydrometers can be divided into two general classes: liquids heavier than water and liquids lighter than water.

Yeah I'm in canada so , same. But many people here are in the USA, and use gallons, which is madness in my opinion. but there it is.

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
MonstersX, I’m enjoying your ap on my Iphone 6 but I’m unable to use the liquer calculator because the number pad covers the bottom . I can grab the screen and pull it up , but as soon as I let go , it drops back under the numeric pad again so I am unable to enter the sugar field and calculate buttons .
It seems that the Liqueur and Bottle volume aren't responding to taping a clear part of the screen to remove the Numeric pad .
Otherwise , its Very handy and I look forward to a few of those bugs fixed
I have a similar problem with the bottle volume calc, but on that I can just make out the top of the Calculate button and if I’m careful , just hit it .It seems that the Liqueur and Bottle volume aren't responding to taping a clear part of the screen to remove the Numeric pad .
Otherwise , its Very handy and I look forward to a few of those bugs fixed
My recommended goto .

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
Great, that can be addressed, iPhone 6 eh...
having these old phones still have a use is really great.

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
@Hügelwilli , would the right way to do this be to actually use the table 6 lookups? or do you think using this lookup is correct?

Honestly, I think help from me leads to more needed help. And the closer I look at your work the more mistakes I will find. This doesn't sound like a good way of spending my time. Enough said.
Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
ha. fair enough.
Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
@Yummyrum the small screen issue is fixed. Also you can now archive a batch with a right swipe. new version should deploy tomorrow morning (1.7.3)

Re: Basic Distillation Calculator App
Do you think you should go to the "Play Store" every time and update manually (I do it). It would be nice if the app warns about the availability of updates.
Edit: Of course since you use iOS you should go to "App Store"

Thanks Demy , LOL as you can probably guess , I’m not a big App store shopper …. but that was less painful than I imagined .
