Natural Nutritious Bomb

Post by Demy »

Ummm .. the title is too presumptuous I know but I like the sound ..
Actually nothing new ... just something I did ....
So I used stale bread, first I gelatinized the starches

Later I added a small amount of powder enzymes (alpha and beta), kept at adequate temperature then I left to rest all night.

Iodine test is ok

So I boiled yeast by picking it up from the fermenter bottom

Later I inserted boiled yeast + mini-mash in a sugar washing, here is my natural nutrient!

If I remember right the Russians make a spirit from bread.

Yes, I tried once and the result surprised me, if the bread is lightly toasted it gets more flavor.

Great idea! Will you be using this instead of DAP or other yeast nutrients in ferments?

My nutrient recipe for 5 gallons :
150~200gm raisins
10-12 dates
10-12 dry figs
Few florets of broccoli or few leaves of kale/chard

I don’t use any DAP etc

I always used and only boiled yeast, then I added the gelatinized grain flour, finally I tried this and works beautifully ... of course a little malt will be fine too, the converted bread is an alternative very valid...I saw signs of fermentation within an hour (sometimes 30 minutes), here an image of how he was this morning
