Copper boiler thickness?

In our view 30 gallons and under is considered hobby size. Do not bring anything larger than this to our site.

Copper boiler thickness?

Post by 30xs »

After playing around adding copper mesh in the boiler on my last couple runs it has me entertaining the thought of building a full copper boiler, if I can source enough copper to try it. My question is what thickness/weight should I be looking to source? Most of my searches have brought up thicknesses for a pot, but I’d like to be able to set my plated or packed column on it safely. Diameter preferred in the 18-22” range.

I have access the a metal fab shop for a sheet roller, and TIG. I plan on having it on a roller cart and be able to drain without having to lift it loaded, but I don’t want to be so heavy that it’s unbearable to carry empty.
