Re: Coonshine
She is the friendliest of 6 we got around here. Ones a momma my wife bottle fed last year and she had 3 babies this year. And another 2 baby girls were sent this spring once someone shot their momma. We got a nice spot with miles of woods around us and are also right next to a river. Basically raccoon heaven
98% wild. They are all friendly, shy timid little creatures that we totally love.

The city of New orleans is rife with raccoons, possums, and coyotes. Not to mention feral animals like cats, dogs, and pigs(in NO east) and of course feral humans.
Couple years back some rich lady had her chihuahua eaten by a coyote in city park.

Re: Coonshine
When I was living in the US, I used to leave the door of my house open all the time and it wansnt uncommon to come across a skunk, opossum or squirrel exploring the house. Id give them some time and they'd wander away. Im in Australia now and I wouldn't mind seeing a little marsupial sneaking about. I see some outside in the trees, and Ive made a few outside possum friends, but so far no one has been brave enough to wander in. My girlfriend has been asking me to make a bird feeder to put just inside the living room to entice some parrots in the house...

She always shows up right at dark and will always stay till I go inside. Warms my heart how sweet she is with her kisses and cuteness

That is absolutely adorable. You give her treats right? How could you not? Most coons around my place are a nuisance. They go after our chickens so my wife traps them and relocates them. That's better than the alternative.

Try putting some cut apple inside the door, not too far, you might get a brush tail possum come in the house but don't corner it.Metalking00 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 3:32 am When I was living in the US, I used to leave the door of my house open all the time and it wansnt uncommon to come across a skunk, opossum or squirrel exploring the house. To attract the lorrikeets, use honey and water on a dish on your balcony.
We have ring-tailed possums in a tree next to our bedroom window but they are more timid and they eat flowers I think
Taking a break while I get a new still completed....

Thanks for posting the pics JLP, keep 'em coming man. I would argue that we need more of this right now than anything else.

Re: Coonshine
Off topic, but...
We don't have coons in Australia, but this reminds me of cheese. (Truly).
We used to have Coon cheese. Delicious. Named for the original maker, a Doctor Coon.
But the Politically Correct got involved and the name was changed to Cheers.
Om principle I won't buy it!
