For the freshest possible cocktails
Only use the freshest alcohol you can get! Never bottled, never frozen, never cut!
For the record, this is 100% a joke. The clamps weren’t even tight. Never ever ever do this in actual use. I was working on a project using cocktail shaker parts and thought it would be funny to assemble things like this. This is not how the finished project will look or work!Learn from the past, live in the present, change the future.

That kicks ass
Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.

Is that an actual shaker with a Tri-Clamp ferrule on the cap? If so, where on earth did you buy that?

That is an actual shaker with a 1.5” Tri-Clamp ferrule on the cap. It started off as the cheapest stainless cobbler shaker I could find on Amazon. The strainer is just pressed in, so I drove that out with a hammer and a 3/4” copper coupling (it was handy and already a bit mangled anyway, so I used it as a punch). I then used the pull through ferrule tool from BrewHardware.com to press the ferrule into the top. I only used the tapered guide, not the whole tool. I put it into a bench vise to drive the ferrule in, which took a little force but went in without issue. I’m fairly certain it would never come out with just the press fit, and is probably sealed more than well enough, but I soldered the inside as well for extra insurance, and to make sure that there’s a smooth transition.Salt Must Flow wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 10:47 am Is that an actual shaker with a Tri-Clamp ferrule on the cap? You certainly have mastered the art of soldering stainless.
It sure is amazing how well those shakers seal with just a friction fit .

Very good job on the fitment. It looked like a factory made item so I had to ask
Do you have plans for that modified shaker? Are you turning that into a condenser or something like that?

It’s truly amazing what the right flux and a little patience and car achieve! Also, I took in all the advice I could from the fine folks here. And the rest of the folks as well.
Thank you, sir!Salt Must Flow wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 12:09 pm Very good job on the fitment. It looked like a factory made item so I had to ask

My plan is to make two of these modified caps, the cut the bottoms off so that they fit a 3” ferrule. Solder the cap to the base, and I have a pair of long 1.5” to 3” adapters. One will be left as is, the other will get a double wound copper coil, so that the whole thing becomes a Dimroth condenser.
I don’t REALLY need another condenser right now, but I want to see if I can do it. Also, I keep thinking about the possibility of converting from a pot still to a reflux setup, and what I plan to build should work just fine as a deflag as well.
