Tea Bag Infused Neutral Spirits

Post by Edmonton »

Had a jug of 190 kicking around and thought I’d make something for the ladies for Christmas.
I took 3 - 1 liter jars and cut down my 190 to just over 80 and soaked 4 Tea Bags in each.
  • Cranberry Pomegranate
  • Licorice Spice
  • Acai Berry
Let that sit for 2 hours.
Meanwhile I boiled 2 cups of water in 4 cups of sugar to make a make a simple syrup.
I removed the Tea Bags and being careful not to squeeze them. (My wife said that may make it a tad bitter.)
I added approx 1 cup of syrup to each jar. (Adjust to taste)
I was more than surprised at the taste of this!
All 3 of these will be great over Ice to sip.
My next batch I may try to leave the Tea Bags in overnight for maybe a little more flavor. But honestly, 2 hours was more than fine!
I will definitely be doing more of this!!!

Do you have a favorite yet?

Steeping longer may have the same effect as squeezing the bag.

I’ve tasted all 3 and all 3 are really good but I haven’t put them on ice yet. I will break these out at Christmas.

I think you might be right about longer steeping.
But I have to try at least once overnight.
I may also try doubling the Tea Bags just to see.

If a flavor is too intense, you can easily cut it with more neutral and simple syrup.

Exactly but I’m concerned about it being bitter
I watched a few Sweet Tea Recipes on YouTube that leave the bag in overnight so I just have to try it.

Overnight in neutral, or in water/hot water?
