Wood chips in thumper?

Post by Medicine_man »

Hello All,
I've been reading a lot about artificial aging (microwave vs. ultrasonic) and was wondering if adding wood to the thumper would have a positive effect.
My thought was that as the charred wood sits in the thumper with an appropriate amount of alcohol it would be heated and release the flavor into the condenser and down into the collection vessel.
I searched the forum and found no results which I am assuming means the idea wouldn't work or there would already be a thread on it but at the very least it may spark a creative idea for someone.

I think the transfer of flavor would be minimal....I'm experimenting with "alcoholic teas" for flavor.....Aging is another matter....Only time will do the job.

kinda interesting. i don't have a thumper but someone should try this and see what happens. may give a good headstart to the flavour profile and a bunch of char could soak up some other shit.

won't know until someone tries!
I finally quit drinking for good.

now i drink for evil.

I’ve spirit run with wood in a pot still. It doesn’t do any harm.

But is it worth a repeat?

It probably depends on what you’re doing with it. I’ve done it several times, mostly when working with Queen’s Share type feints runs. The wood has usually been in the feints collection for some time before the run.
