I dont watch his videos, mostly cause they are so voting I'd rather have a root canal. But the fee I've watched seemed at the very least, informative.
A search of the forum should find at least one that I've posted. I suspect that dissecting every YT he ever did would break forum rules, plus I have better things to do with my life.

A search for "PID "will reveal just one of his many crazy arse ideas that has wasted hours and hours of the members and Mods of this forums time.
Here is just one such thread of many for free.....viewtopic.php?f=1&t=79282
Oh and another viewtopic.php?f=15&t=77285&p=7594396#p7594396 please read them from end to end.
Then there is this doozy viewtopic.php?f=89&t=77572
Plenty more out there if you look.

I like brewbird and stillit.
Still Behind the Bench seems like a good guy and makes pretty good factual stuff that most of us know but make pretty good references to share with those who don't.
https://www.youtube.com/c/StillBehindTheBench

About the biggest news in youtube history so far as I'm concerned though is Boston Apothecary is now making vids. For my time this dude is the hearts cut of distilling knowledge. Here he talks about an article from 1975 he not only tracked down, but also translated and contextualizes it for us. Because he's that cool.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzRZfF ... zQiCp7OtEg

And on a different tack, If you can keep your bikini out of your butt crack, the crew on SV Delos document their shine from time to time and I get a kick out of it. Warning: they are a sailing lifestyle channel who couldn't afford to stock their younger poorer party boat with enough overtaxed Australian booze to get lost in SE Asia for months at a time so they picked up distilling. They are probably cutting edge for an Australian brew shop circa 2010, so lots of plastic, turbos, flavoring essences etc. Don't watch it for that. Watch it because sailboats are cool, sailors are cool, and they make and drink booze in awesome places with awesome people. And really, before getting too bent ask yourself if YOU have ever been having drinks with a neighbor somewhere in the Indian Ocean when you realize you just happened to be drinking with the owner of Glenfidditch (and Monkey Shoulder, Balvenie, Hendricks gin and others) and he was drinking your T500 essence based "Scotch" straight from the plastic jug you age it in? And did he fly home a sample of your booze to take to his lab to have his techs analyze it for safety? Because yeah, that happened. I'm not saying plastic is safe. I'm just saying that whoever runs the GCMS at Grant and Sons wasn't concerned.

Plastic is bad, turbo sucks, T-500 is the devil, essences are bad, AMEN.

I found this site. Looks to be more professional training videos than hobby but seems interesting.

Jesse gave me the confidence that I could build my own still. After watching him solder a column together and it didn't fall to pieces, you figure anyone could do it. Most Youtube vids are from people with shops full of equipment, while Jesse's toolbox looks like mine a hammer .vice grips, and a screwdriver.

Here is one I stumbled upon. He has a few stillin' videos but his channel is mostly about tech.
I found it quite thorough.

I recently found this guy and I am enjoying his content. He is a professional distiller.
Nothing flash, just him with his hand held camera running a still, or sitting in his house answering viewer submitted questions.

George provides excellent videos on distillation...period. He may have made a few minor technical mistakes from time to time but is attacked without mercy on this site. George bad, Jesse good; copper good, stainless bad; pot still good, plated still bad.

I don't typically watch vids on stilling for information and research purposes due to them requiring dedicated time to watch end to end and usually have a bunch of other BS in there. Signal to Noise ratio is typically very high. I have watched a few StillIt vids which I enjoyed and could hardly make it through even one "George" vid. I find myself skipping and advancing through videos because they feel so slow and boring. I mean just get to the point please!

Reading the forum threads allows numerous rabbit holes to be explored as I have time and motivation to do so along with multiple opinions and points of view to add into the pool of knowledge.

I love the random vids of folks making various slivovitz and similar spirits / approaches with the old world techniques and equipment.

My personal opinion :)

Cheers,
j

"George provides excellent videos on distillation...period"
I think you're wrong about that.
You're right about George getting terrible reviews here at HD.

Read the comments section of his videos.
Everybody seems to agree with his every statement.
That's because he deletes and makes sure no one gets a chance to point out his errors.

We can learn more from folks that have been doing it for generations, than we can from someone who has more experience making videos than he does making liquor.

Here is an interview where George doubles & quadruples down on using PIDs and running stills by controlling their temp. It's pure nonsense, everyone knows it, but George sells PID controllers. George is either extremely ignorant or lying to make money off of people who do not know any better. I don't know which is worse. Listening to him try to explain it and justify it is pure stupidity.

I don't know where you're last statement is coming from. I've never heard such a thing.

Here's a few I stumbled across of eau de vie production in France. They are using trailer based steamer stills which are wood fired.

Kind of makes me wish I lived in place where burning wood and stilling were a legal activity as I have access to both free wood and low cost fruit.

Jesse does it also when he uses his Genio still and says it works nearly perfectly. The world doesn't consist of only pot stills and other distillation methods can use temperatures to accurately make alcohol including cuts. That's just a fact.

Everyone except his hardcore fans who are brainwashed into believing his BS.
His beliefs on Methanol, his constant use of unsafe distilling methods and the use of unsafe materials when distilling and carbon filtering are just a few of the many reasons his name is on that list.

SD Engr maybe you could tell us why you think that the forum should have anything less than a zero tolerance attitude toward dangerous practices and the spreading of inaccurate and bad distilling information.
I don't give a damn if your a "YouTube personality " or a member of this forum, if you start talking rubbish you will get called out.
