Welcome aboard man. Check out the Tried and True. The All Bran recipe is good and easy. Give it a try. Or try Shadys sugar shine. A good rule of thumb is to ferment 3x a boiler charge. Strip 3x and then do a slow spirit run. Have fun and stay safe.

hello and welcome. I just bought some cheap vodka for a sacrificial run. I think I did 50/50 vodka and water.

Welcome Andy,
You said you have a 13 gallon Boiler, what are you heating with? Gas & burner or Electric?
You didn't say what you are using for fermenting in.
When I did my Sacrificial run I did a full charge into the boiler.
I have a 15.5 gal SS Keg. I put about 12 gal @ about 10% in.
that gave me the opportunity to "play" with the run,
change power & see the effect it had on flow rate,
increase/decrease water to Deflag see what that did to the plates.
I had never run a still before, nor had I seen one running in person.
the difference was 16 pounds of sugar for 12 gallons, instead of 8 pounds for 6 gallons.
that is...... 2 bags of sugar & $6.00 more?
