Hi All,
Apologies if the answer to this is easy to find. I Googled every which way and couldn't find an answer.
My question is—can I put a 4in to 2in reducer in my column to a cooling management reflux condenser without slowing the still down too much? Does a 2in dephlegmator have enough knockdown power for a 4in column to generate effective reflux?
I know the larger the column the more quickly you can run product (given a sufficient heating source) and I normally see the reflux condenser as the same size as the column but I wasn't sure if that was a hard and fast rule.
I'm basically thinking about buying the setup in the attached picture as a start then eventually replacing the column with a 4in bubble plate set up. But I didn't want to waste my money on that if the configuration with a reducer would mean I'd need to buy a new reflux condenser anyways.
Thanks in advance for any help!
