What variety of barley is best for corn whiskeys

Post by Tōtōchtin »

I read a study on the varieties of rye and the different flavors they produce. Must be true with barley also.I tried searching for this info, the only thing that popped out was a post by Tater in this thread. He must have gotten a hold of something good before he wrote this mini novel. viewtopic.php?t=5042
I can get some prunella barley that is sold as their seed stock down here. I can't find in Googling if this is something I want to buy 50 lbs of for 50 bucks. Since it's for cultivation I assume it would be easy to malt.
Thanks again for your time,

Tōtō, just make sure that the “seed barley” hasn’t been treated, as often here in the USA “seed grains” are treated with pesticide and fungicide to help them survive germination. If the seed grains available to you are untreated, then they may be OK to brew with. Otherwise, I would be very careful.

Make sure that seed grain is controlled for ergot content.
Where I live, it is not.

You guys saved me some money, where it was advertised made me not to question it right away. But they did offer me some if I went to their plant that wasn't treated by them.
Thanks, I'll keep looking. Sometimes living in paradise is ok, sometimes the crap from the big city is alright. I'll suffer with ok
