I don't know what is wrong with some people. “Ah, look at the cute little turtle"!
Yeah; a living fossil of a very ugly beast that can “take your finger off” at the elbow when it grows up. It'll turn into godzilla eventually.

Naturally the thing will out live you. It might take 150 to 180 years to reach 100 lbs. I've pulled them in on a 'trot line' that were that big or bigger. Some of the photos from the link show some snappers that look like they're approaching 200 lbs.

Wow that's a BIG one. Alligator Snapping Turtle is the kind we had down in Texas. They get huge. Never seen a picture of a baby one. We would kill em , my buddy would eat em and keep the shells. He has probably 50 of the big shells on the side of his shed. It's a hella sight.

If life is such that there're many elderly, fat people.
Life is most likely easy and good for the young folks.
I find no shame in being fat and old.
I view it as a sign of success that they haven't figured out how to tax yet.
On a side note. My wife wonders why B cup man titties don't sag?

This was a snapshot of some interesting German lettering, taken from a movie. Possibly “Where Eagles Dare”.

There are thousands upon thousands of type fonts. But this dumb computer only has a poor selection available. So one can go to the Internet and find unique fonts, but must download them and then install them, before a word processor or graphics program like Photoshop can take advantage of them. An then some fonts come with reservations. Even though these fonts are given away freely, that does not mean that all of them can be used commercially on a poster, liquor label or website. There were more than 100 old German type fonts on this website. So I nabbed about 14 of the ones I liked, to compare and choose the best one. Fancy is fine, except when readability is more important.

That which is most valuable is usually the most fragile.
Hydrometers often fall on the floor and smash themselves.
But thermometers almost never do.

That's for US stills. Metric pot stills should have 29.37. Extrapolation for metric reflux stills is left as an exercise for the reader.

[For a minute I was worried that she was going to toss those snails down the well...]

If a young man was smart, he'd snatch up a woman like this. One that knows how to work. One that has skills.

Not one that spends all day painting her face and fingernails, or spends her money on cosmetics and Botox bubble lips, or expects a guy to spend a minimum of $300 on his first date with her.

The art of conversation is not lost; completely. The other day I cornered a young person who was momentarily defenseless, as he waited for his security blanket (his smart phone) to re-charge. Somehow, in this conversation I mentioned the "Keystone Cops". My allusion missed its mark though; I could tell. He had no clew and my explanation was probably lacking.

Today I found this video. I e-mailed it to him.

* He receives my emails but he never shares or sends any to me. When asked about this behavior, he in essence explained that it was too much trouble to do so (from a phone): it takes several mundane steps to go through the toil of constructing and sending an old fashioned (obsolete) e-mail. People with i-Pads and other tablets witness similar complications. It's as if PC's and cellular technology don't even speak the same language. But smart phones and tablets are half-assed compromises at best. Other than pictures and short video clips, these are sadly inadequate tools for creating intelligent content.

Down the road someday, some newer, disruptive fad in communication technology will come along; and krap on everything that proceeded it. Older tech (like today's cellular technology) will be swept out the window and forgotten about before it hits the ground. I've seen it happen several times myself already.

Not a good way to run a rodeo, folks.
