I smell something fermenting…

Post by scotsman2k »

Hi all, looking to get started distilling with my air still. I want a stirling engine that needs some fuel and if some of it falls in my mouth then that’s ok too. :crazy:

Welcome Scotsman, from a Welshman.

A Stirling engine eh? I had one on show at home for years.

Enjoy the forum.

I'll tell you what smells. That would be some of the explanations of what a Sterling engine is, or how one works. The impression in my mind at the moment – is about as clear as river bottom mud.
Explanations like the one on Wikipedia just add to the confusion.

If one reads the adjoining text while looking at the picture, he might ask;
Where is this working fluid that is supposedly permanently contained within the closed-cycle system? (yes we realize that working fluid might be a gas).
Where is the "regenerator" on this picture of a Stirling engine?
Where is this “displacer” coupled to the piston - of which you speak ?
.
(this next picture just thrown in because of it's copper content)

Other explanations of the Stirling engine that I have read this morning, have been just as lame.
Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet.
