Re: Southeast Meetup 2024
Another small meetup in the books. A good time was had by all, and a better time by some!
I want to take this opportunity to thank the members who made this happen, and who came. It’s one of the bright spots in my life to be able to meet and talk with like minded folks, and both inspirational and educational to sample other people’s work and get feedback on my own.
I am already looking forward to next year’s event!

It was a fantastic time of exploring and sharing! Tasted a LOT of outstanding spirits (maybe a bit too much on day 1 for some or maybe all???Steve Broady wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 6:17 am Another small meetup in the books. A good time was had by all, and a better time by some!

Counting down the days to the next one. Thinking maybe we drop in on Chauncey down in New Orleans….
I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.
That’s it. No more reading!

Good to see you fellas all had a great time, Ive never yet been to a meet up were I didn't meet a heap of really good people and have a pile of fun and laughs.
The drinking , tasting , and learning is just a part of it , many long term friendships are also forged at events like this.
I wish I could have been there.
For those who haven't , just do it.

Re: Southeast Meetup 2024
Why the hell didn't I bring some honey?

I was very humbled and grateful for the experience. Higgins, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with a new guy and I enjoyed tasting your hard won wares. Same goes to DougMatt and Steve Broady. It was wonderful to get to just talk shop and have a good time together. DougMatt, I'm still dreaming about that one mezcal you brought back from Mexico. Now I want to take my wife to Mexico haha.
I'm very much looking forward to next year, and already working on putting up more stuff to bring to the conversation. Honey notwithstanding.
Time, patience, and perseverance will accomplish all things.

Venkman, Dougmatt: It was great to meet you guys and share our enjoyment of this great hobby. Steve Broady, likewise great to see you again. Lots of really good products were shared, perhaps a few too many (at least on my part).
I've got the feeling that we'll all be seeing each other again.

It isn’t identical, but a similar style as the one he suggested. This was me moving up from a corona mill so probably not the ”best” just a lot better than what I was doing. Fill the hopper, Push a button, it does the work quickly and no mess.
I found it on aliexpress for $89 (not there right now for some reason).

Got the same one. I had to buy mine through Alibaba but was still cheaper than buying the same thing locally. Chews through corn like it's on speed. I mill 8kg bourbon batches in about 4 minutes.

Posting to get on the radar for any future southeast meetups. I'm in Gainesville, GA and would really enjoy getting together with others to trade notes, samples, tips, tricks, failures, and successes.
I'm trying to follow rule #3. Are you?

We usually start talking about a time and place around the end of the year, since I have to schedule my vacation for each year by the end of November. I’m already looking forward to 2025!

Looking forward to keeping up as plans start coming together.Steve Broady wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 8:09 am We usually start talking about a time and place around the end of the year, since I have to schedule my vacation for each year by the end of November. I’m already looking forward to 2025!
In the meantime, if there's anyone in the Gainesville, Cumming, Alpharetta, Dawsonville, Dahlonega, etc., area of North Georgia that would like to visit, trade tastings, get together for a beer, etc. Let me know. Would love to connect with some folks in the area.

Re: Southeast Meetup 2024
I'm game. My schedule is usually pretty flexible with decent notice. I'm in the Gainesville, GA area (North Atlanta suburb) and would love to participate in the next get together.
