just saying HI

Post by catfergstillman+2 »

I just joined this forum so as to interact with others who have the same interest, IE, distilling and possibly get some pointers which would help me perfect the craft a bit. I've been at it for several years now, and having many fruit trees, I never have a shortage of supplies. Mashes that I've distilled have been made from apples, peaches, black berries, pineapple guava, and prickly pear cactus. I've made my own equipment out of different size aluminum pressure cookers mostly altho did make one cooker out of a stainless pot although had a difficult time getting the lid to seal properly. I'm a retired auto mechanic with too much free time on my hands I suppose, LOL?

Welcome to the club 🍻. A mash is for grain. A wash is for sugar, and a must is for fruit. I may have been driving or drinking. Others may chime in.
Either way if you got fruit you are golden. You can make some beautiful brandies or wines.
This is the place to learn what to do with those fruits. Check out the tried and true section.
I drink so much now,on the back of my license it's a list of organs I need.

Welcome, sounds like your are sitting on a bounty!

Regarding the home made stills, do yourself a huge favour and only use the stainless steel one.

Enjoy the forum.
