Maybe don't use it for long time ageing

Or at least close it properly after tasting.

Funny. I'm testing using coffee filters as gaskets for flip-top lids on glass jars. I've never monitored losses too closely before, but I'm seeing some major drop in volume and abv in only 5 months of ageing.

Pretty cool experiment, swede…

I suspect the same effects would happen in your keg as well just in different proportions.

Not great, reckon that's more about the cuts than the lid though.

Also down to 58%from 75%

I used coffee filters for lids for several months and it ended up tasting weak with no good odor. No alcohol flavor. I had to add some headsier fraction from a different run to it.

My 2 cents worth.

I do a lot of pickling and every mason jar that I have had in the last 15 years is a one and done. Vinegar will break down the seal and eat through the lid in around three years personally I don’t know what they changed but what they used when I was a kid was much better and far more impervious than what is used nowadays. I now specifically try to source jars that have a separate rim lid and no white plastic on the underside of the lid. PVC is extremely toxic, no ifs, buts or maybes.
