It's more than I am comfortable with consistently drinking daily myself, but there are many who mirror your regimen as well.

Here's what the CDC says:

Correct answer is no .

But……”Maaaaate … harden the fuck up …only 200mls a day …..come back when you’re doing 300 …..aaaaye “

Jokes aside .
It is not sustainable . Nearly 7 standard drinks a day qualifies you as a Binge drinking Alcoholic .

First 10 years , you’ll be laughing , next 10 , you can probably do it still , although impact on daily life may become increasingly difficult . The third decade … well , depends on what genes you copped , you may be close to death or still able to cope . …. Some are lucky , some are not .

I’ll let you guess what happens next but Throat and painful Pancreatic cancer are common .As is Alcohol induced Psychosis and Dementure .

Other than that , you should be right .

Is it OK? … Ok for what? OK for health? OK to drive? Drinking alcohol has some inherent risk. The more we drink the higher the risk.

Do I considered to be an alcoholic?… from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

“Heavy Alcohol Use:
NIAAA defines heavy drinking as follows:
For men, consuming five or more drinks on any day or 15 or more per week
For women, consuming four or more on any day or 8 or more drinks per week
SAMHSA defines heavy alcohol use as binge drinking on 5 or more days in the past month.”

I don’t feel anything…is this normal?… that’s what alcohol does and is one of the reasons people drink. I may not be a good judge of “normal”. Drinking 200 ml of vodka a day is odd in my opinion because it is a spirit with almost no flavour. So likely being consumed for the purpose of getting a buzz.

By asking your questions you reveal that you likely have some concerns fxaddicted.

It's worth it to me to practice moderation and also abstinence on a regular basis as well as enjoying and celebrating decadent excess occasionally.

Sometimes I do drink 200ml/day every day. Sometimes I'll go six months without a dram. Sometimes it's two drinks three or four times a week.

I'm on a health kick right now so leaning towards less is more for the next phase which keeps the cellar stocked and the aging vessels topped up.

Enjoy it and don't fool yourself if you have concerns. You're worth it :)

Cheers,

If you ask the public you probably already have your answer, you just didn't like it. You can continue onwards until you hit the wall. But by then your filters will be so beat up,quiting would be a motherfucker. You have your whole life ahead, quit for 6 weeks then ask yourself the same question.

Thats almost the equivalent of a cup of coffee, which may not seem like much, but nearly 7 ounces of 40% alcohol is a good bit. If you're drinking that straight, and not drinking water with the vodka, it's very bad for your throat.
Now, I've been known to drink heavy at times as well, but if I was consuming that much every day, all the time, I'd be seeking help and finding a new hobby.

The last few days, I've drank a bit much. So, the rest of the week I'm staying off the sauce all together.

Years ago I was drinking half of that daily and a routine blood test indicated elevated liver enzymes. So I quit for 6wks and my liver ‘repaired’ itself. So now I’ve slowed down and stop drinking for a quarter annually. Keep going on your current trajectory and odds are great that your liver won’t respond to due to scar tissue. Your kidneys can suffer as well.

Good on ya for asking.

Try 120mL a day. And have one day off a week. That would be 24 standard drinks a week and would keep my nurse happy-ish at my annual check up. As long as I haven’t got fat or shorter. Two days off a week and she’d give me a lolly.

I'm with Deplorable and Twisted brick. In the beginning I was consuming way too much. It's hard to cut back when it's tasty and cheap. But as my wifey pointed out it's easy to get carried away.
If you act right, work everyday, and still control your intake it's "probably" not an issue.
BUT... remember, addiction never goes away, your either feeding it or fighting it.
And this is true for everything, food, booze, sweets, and sex.
Ok... maybe not sex. But you get what I'm saying about addiction. It never goes away.

I just measured how much of my 44% ABV Noble Russian Vodka viewtopic.php?t=92136 I have consumed over the last four hours and it came to nearly 200ml. I've had several large glasses of water and dinner in the same period. Is that safe? Probably not if I did it every day, but I don't.

I have had poor liver function test results and have had to cut back in the past, but my latest tests are ok. If you are worried, get tested. I recently attended the funeral of a family member who died before retirement age because of cirrhosis of the liver due to a lifetime of excessive alcohol consumption.

I drink a significant amount more than that. No shakes, no hangovers, and I pace myself so I don't get drunk. I only really drink at work though. It's part of my job. Lol. I have approx 6 to 8 shots 4 nights a week, I'd say.

Back in the day it was aloooot more.

I drink 200ml of Vodka everyday . is it OK ?
It's great that you're asking this question as I'm sure many of us reflect on the same and its impact.

Back in the day, I could easily work my way through a liter of rum or vodka over a weekend. But over time, something didn’t feel right inside. Both my parents struggled with alcoholism, and I didn’t want to follow that path. Fortunately, quitting wasn’t too hard for me, I could go months without drinking while still enjoying the occasional drink when I wanted. There have even been years when I didn’t touch alcohol at all.

Now, in my 70s, my routine is more relaxed: On the weekends I enjoy a couple of freshly brewed ales in the afternoon, and in the evenings I’ll have a couple of drams of some good SM Scotch. Sunday through Friday is a sort of reset, and I don’t mind skipping a weekend here and there.

Here’s my honest take: if you’re asking this question, it’s likely because you’re concerned about your drinking habits, and that might be your body’s way of telling you something.

And let’s be real 200 ml a day might be a conservative estimate. Let's assume you’re drinking closer to 750 ml every other day, that adds up to about 137 liters (36 gallons) of vodka a year. That’s a lot for a liver to process. Over time, this level of consumption increases the risks of things like brain cell loss, cancer, and other health issues, especially as we age.

My advice? Be honest with yourself. Ask if you feel dependent on alcohol. Try stopping for a while to see if you can. If it’s hard to quit, aim to cut back and perhaps save drinking for weekends only. Small changes now could make a big difference for your future well-being.

Cheers!

I grew up with a alcoholic pops, it was never in the cards for me. Had some beers in my youth, today, doubtful I'll dink 3 in a year. But got hooked as a Scotch traveller bout 6 years ago and it's been fun. I would gag on Jack or Beam, always made me half puke but tequila or gin was my choice if I drank. But the wife has me on a ration, 3oz a day - Sometimes I might do twice that, then not a drop for 5 days~ but yes, I'll admit, I've asked myself. To go through a good bottle of Scotch in a week isn't difficult so I try not to hit that and take a break. That's how I manage it for me. We're all different. I kicked 45 years of smoking (that was murder) Drinking aint a worry, but you can't be blind either to the point of denial. I'm a work hard, play hard kind of guy. Daytime is for working and later after the sun sets is sipping time, not opposed to a left hander now and then either~but I've done my job, I can do what the f' I want.

I've consistently drank about that or more in stints for years. A 34 year old buddy I went to high school with just died a miserable death from liver failure due to drinking, and I'm starting to rethink my choices.

Several as in three, for an adult male, really doesn't. Several as in a six pack... different story.

I disagree. It's not necessarily the quantity, but the regularity. The problem is that once the habit of three drinks has been instilled, that can easily and transparently become four. Then five. And now we're into dangerous territory, except that the time to take a good look was when it was "only three".

I like the guys from Whisky Vault for that. They do a dry month, but talk about why. It's not just a detox. Or giving your liver a break. It's about noting how you feel during that time. And how you react when it ends.

I've been through periods where I drank regularly (as in daily) and each time I was surprised by how quickly a habit set in. By habit, I mean the point where if nothing interrupts you, you've prepared the drink without really thinking about whether you wanted one.

I get what you're saying, and I can definitely relate. But that's more psychological. I was talking about the physiological effects and the ADH metabolic pathway vs MEOS. But I may stand corrected. After looking at a few studies it looks like the MEOS pathways increases with chronic alcohol intake, not just excessive.

This was something interesting and unrelated I found that may explain something I've always wondered. Why hardcore drinkers can be thin as a rail despite the massive caloric intake from ethanol.

"The increase in rest energy expenditure has, according to some studies, been explained by indicating that the MEOS "expends" nine calories per gram of ethanol to metabolize versus 7 calories per gram of ethanol ingested. This results in a net loss of 2 calories per gram of ethanol ingested."

I'll tell ya this, as a bartender in New Orleans I'd say 200ml of booze aint nothing.

But if it's within 2 or 3 hours that's when most people lose their ability to behave.

an interesting question that makes us all examine our own habits. I myself can go weeks or months without a beer or liquor but when I do drink I tend to over-do it.

For example last week Wednesday was the first time I touched a drop in about a month but I was at a party with very cheap booze. From 7:30am to about noon that day I had enough $7 margaritas to end up with a $110 bar tab(assuming a 20% tip my guess was in the range of 12-13) then left that party on a scooter to go to another where I had 5 beers till about 4pm. Thankfully I had booked a room 2 blocks from where I ended the day but that's how I drink.

When I drank 200 ml aa (absolute alcohol, not to be exchanged with AA: Alcoholics Anonymous) I got a call from my doctor: your bloodvalues are to high, you should take care.
So I lowered my consumption to half the amount: 250 ml of 40 % ABV equals 100 ml. This led to halving of my relevant bloodvalue. So now I try to stick to it. A bottle (750 ml) of wine (13 %ABV) or 250 ml of 40 % (= 100 ml aa) per day. Starting after 22:00.
My body (and mind) seems to be able to handle that regime. At this moment I even correct typing errors. ;)
But of course I do not know about your constitution. Or consumption.
According to the standards you and I are alcoholics. I have peace with that, but not all of my friends do agree. I don't have a wife or children, so that is a lot easier for me.
Can not judge for you, of course.

I think you can probably get away with it for a while but it would eventually catch up with you.

A few months ago I was really stressed out from work etc... was having a cocktail to relax, and after a few weeks I realized I had been having several big strong cocktails every night.
I wasn't getting drunk, I'm a large man, it takes a lot for me
but I was having several drinks every night and getting a bit of a buzz.

I also noticed I was having a hard time solving complicated problems at work, which is very bad because my job is mainly to solve complicated problems.

I got on the wagon and after a couple weeks I went back to normal.

Went back to my rules (once a week or less, just a few, stop when I'm buzzing) and I'm still fine.

I dont think alcohol only affects the liver.

And based on my own experience I don't think it's safe to drink that much every day.

Some people seem to get away with it, but I've discovered that I can't.
