Back on the still

Post by Greg »

Hello all, posted on here in 2022 and then kind of neglected my still build since then. Well, it's time to get on the wagon and fire this thing up soon.

Picture of my still and background what has kept me busy last couple years. Lots of cleaning of components needed before firing up. I'm sure I'll be posting questions on procedures, so bear with me as I'm a novice at this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome back.
That looks like quite the rig. Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you.

Nice to have you back Greg;

A lot of those questions are asked and answered. That's what makes this group so awesome. Most of us started out with a little to no knowledge of the "hobby" Nice looking rig :thumbup: and the 69 looks pretty awesome too! 8)

Be safe and have fun:

Welcome back. That's a cool looking rig, both of 'em. :thumbup:

How large is the still? We have a 30 gallon limit for discussions on a hobby forum unless you are a licensed distiller.

Not sure. It's been a while but if remember right it took (5) 5-gallon buckets water to bring it up to a workable level. I'll never make any were near that amount'. Looking at 10-gallon at most. Pot kind of fell into my hands for free at work. With a little modification, pressure relief, temp gauge, little added to the top and a stainless fitting added to the side for plumbing attachments. That is what I ended up with. Hoping it works OK.

Pot and thumper looks good. The worm and kettle it's in, is kinda undersized.
