Hi All, a question to those who have more experience than me. Does an elevated level of manganese in the water used for fermentation going to be a problem? I am thinking of using my bore water, which is crystal clear and tastes great but has an elevated (not excessive) level of manganese rather than town water which is chlorinated, is this going to affect my fermentation of sugar wash for neutral spirit.
Cheers Bill

Re: Manganese in fermentation
It's a healthy nutrient for yeast and helps the yeast take up zinc which is important . Pero what's to high for you? Too much and it will inhibit the yeast budding. My brain no longer functions well but for some reason I feel it only needs to be in the single digits in ppm.

Hi Tammuz, thanks for the reply. I thought that would be the case, I prefer the bore water to what comes out of the town main.
