Hello from Southwest USA

Post by Makrull »

Hello! 20 year brewer here, just got into distilling a couple of months ago. I have 50A electric brewery so was able to weld some fittings into a beer keg get another 5500W element and was off and running. My setup is a 6 plate 4" column with 12" section for rolled copper mesh on a 1/2 barrel keg.

So far I have done 3 batches of Shady's Sugar Shine fermented in a 40G rubbermaid trashcan. I think they turned out well but I still find it difficult to distinguish heads from hearts and tails, although I'm starting to get better as I keep tasting.

My goal is to make neutral for mixed drinks and liquors, already made strawberry panty dropper and a cinnamon liquor, but equally as much I would like to make bourbon and rum.

Currently just pitched yeast on SCD's Crown bourbon which tastes amazing. Hoping a I can get a good result on a plate still with plates removed, still doing a lot of reading on this.

Anyway great to be here! Was finally able to register today and look forward to being on here talking with you all.

I was going to add some pics but haven't figured that out yet.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a pretty nice setup you've got there, should serve you well and will be very handy when doing all train washes.
