jabber
hey folks, someone or a few of you want to help test? install a jabber client http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.html and try to connect to http://homedistiller.org onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow. the www is important in the hostname! connect and create an account so we can check this out. i'm not sure if it's what we want for a chat.
as i say, it can handle AIM, YM and other chat clients, eventually. for now i just want to test it as a chat.

well
i havent had time to mess with the chat lately. can you create your own room? i can connect. i'm still not sure this is the chat we want. babylon is nice with its real-time doodle but requires java. i havent investigated any other open source chats other than IRC which is hardly intuitive. jabber claims that all sorts of clients can connect, provided i set it up to do so. i dont want to put in that work unless jabber is the final choice.

exactly
Fourway, you've found the main reason I can't figure things out. The jabberd (daemon) is in 5 different binaries, all requiring unique modifications, and none of their documentation works at the moment. I can only glean so much using 'grep' and 'strings' and reading source code.
