Any good spruce sap recipes???

Sugar, and all about sugar washes. Where the primary ingredient is sugar, and other things are just used as nutrients.

And you still pine for it? :D

Didn't it taste sort of .... resinous? Guess, it is an acquired taste.
Cheers,

okies posting the first recipe I ever used for this substance, its not the best I have but its easy to modify(keep in mind I've never been exact in my methods)

Spruce Mead(Better than spruce beer)
6oz-12oz Norway Spruce Needles(others may work never tried it) Boil it til its pulped, juiced, slimy don't know what to call it. Just make sure you got crazy flavor in the water you could remove the spruce but I leave it

add and keep boiling
2Gallons honey(when my bee hive died maple syrup was used instead)
1Gallon Molasses
Add water til you feel comfortable(again I have never been exact)

let cool, add yeast(nutrient may help not sure)ferment

ya'all get it in the end its better to age it in a barrel for about 1 month(this stuff keeps for alonnnnng time, must be something in the spruce)

also I think the flavor may be improve if barrel for say oh 6 months(not sure longest I ever did was 3 months)

That is the craziest thing I've ever heard of (well close to it). What does it taste like, IHaveTheLongestUserNameEver? I know, spruce. But really, it's good?

Spruce needle beer

I have no experience with spruce needles...but I will say that I've been freezing my balls off (40 below) during survival training and made myself a cup of pine needle tea and it was the best tea I've ever tasted. Granted, I think circumstances jaded my taste buds, but it is actually quite good.

To answer the question...I've made mead from Maple syrup and it turned out excellent - I'd imagine it'd be quite similar. Dissolve about 15 pounds (of syrup / sap) in five gallons of water, throw in some wine / champagne yeast and some nutrient and see what happens.
