Re: Parrot Design?
Set it up with a fill tap (two way tap on the in side?)
and a drain tap so you can get an accurate reading whenever you want?

Re: Parrot Design?
Use a smaller diameter hydrometer.
Re: Parrot Design?
My hydrometer is pretty standard, the pipe is 3/4" and it has room to spare.
Would it be worth going 3/4" inlet increase to 1" for the hydrometer?

Re: Parrot Design?
Easier to get the thin hydrometer.
Without looking at it, mine is maybe 3/8", and so are all the others I have seen.

Re: Parrot Design?
Build another parrot and use 1” instead of 3/4”.
Or run slower.

Re: Parrot Design?
I don't know that there is a standard. I've just measured a couple of mine at 11mm and 20mm. If you are going to build a parrot, you have to take into account the diameter of the hydrometer and the flow rate, (plus the diameter of the down tube to minimize smearing in the down tube).

Re: Parrot Design?
I never use one nor will I probably ever make one but...In my opinion , this parrot design by BourbonJunkie is the go . There is no smearing or Alcometer bounce.
Simply close the valve when you want to take a measurement , the parrot fills . Read it and open the valve to dump .

My recommended goto .

My parrot looks real nice polished and clear-coated and I made a permanent home for it it my curio.
