How much?

Post by MORGAN »

I don't drink much beer except in real hot weather. Since I am in the middle of wine country(my basement) I enjoy a bottle of my own with friends. Now this stuff out of my still is another story. Two or three a day, mostly over ice. Try not to try to type after three. On # two now. See yall ,Morgan

Our new PM is what ever you want him to be, apparantly. Dont get started on politics  As for the drinking question, I have been in most of the boats outlined in the answers. When I was an apprentice Chef, and subsequently a qualified Chef, it was a standard day to sink a 6pack in split shift then another 6-8 tinnies after work. That was them days. I then went through a 10 year period of abstinence(the result of my passed sins cathing up with me and a serious car accident). I now cannot drink beer- too much yeasty gas in the stomach. When I last went to central QLD I had a rum and coke, which by a system of slow evolution has led to distilling my own rum. Love it; the whole process, fermenting, distilling, cutting, ageing, bottling and DRINKING it. I dont drink much of it, but when I do I give it a good nudge. A bottle of750ml@40%/ week would probably be a generous average.
Really though, if you are not going to drink it, why bother?

Fair enough. I think that is actually one of the rules of the forum. No politics, and no religion.

The trouble is, tracker, you only realise the day after. At least you know to be a bit more prudent with your cuts next time. It is really a time delay system, eh? I have noticed when I get greedy for quantity, and take my cuts to a lower ABV, that the result is a big headache.

I love to distill because I just like doing things from scratch. That and it's in the genes.

I'm not a big drinker though. I usually have 2 or 3 drinks and 2 or 3 pints of homebrew a week. Got plenty of wine too but that's usually for dinner with friends, my wife doesn't drink wine and I don't like a full bottle by myself.

I either drink beer, or spirits.
not both.
So,
if its a beer week.....
on average 8 cans a day ( over 8 hours )
if its a spirits week.....
1L of my own RUM

Should probably stick to my rum, but, as Homer says......

Shit, I feel like a drunk now. I drink every day after work. I never really get drunk but just get a decent glow that helps me get some sleep. I got multiple sclerosis so it helps with the pain. The doctors used to give me handfulls of valium and baclophen. I stopped that so i wouldn't become a junkie.
I just toss in a few ice cubes then fill it up with something nice. Usually a Makers Mark or a Johnny Walker. I can roll through a 1/2 gallon of 100proof vodka in about 9 days time and never have gotten drunk. Maybe it's because I'm a big guy so it doesn't hit me very hard.

After the past weekend I have sworn off drinking for the next 30,000 hours!!

My wife was not happy on the third day she picked me up. Nor was I for the next two days.

It gets worse. I discovered today at the RSL that we went out looking at christmas lights in town. I wonder if I had fun.

I drinks a bit. Not much for beer though. Hard to say how much exactly, as I seem to usually have help, but 4 to 5 litres a week of high test usually goes across the bar. I would venture that about 1.5 litres of that I am personally responsible for. Haven't gotten fall down drunk in ages though, just recreational drinking. Never worked today, had maybe 12-15 shots.

Started brewing and distilling about a year ago. Before that I didn't drink a lot of anything. Afew bottles over a 3 hour period at a bar on the weekend.

Now I have at least 1 beer (home brew or S.N.) a day around 3 p.m. and one show of my brandy, and a glass of wine just before bed. Just learned about Irish Cream and me and the wife have been downing a liter about a week and a half. Been alternating the wine and irish cream daily.

I'm 70 and I g uess my liver is in pretty good shape.

2-3 drinks a night after work. If I don't, I won't sleep and that makes for a very bad day at work tomarrow. If I have 4-5 drinks, I won't sleep either, just winds me up. I need to keep my ballance between not enough and too much. Sometimes it is harder than it should be.

No! Mr. P drank everything already, that is why he is so low on consumption! I am right, there, am I not, Mr P?

I mind read mentors. Another one of my hobby's. ;)

BTW, I drink maybe two, three glasses an evening, when the weekend starts. Ah! It is Friday today!

I used to drink every night and had a crap diet and ended up with very high blood pressure so I cut out the meat pies and only had one bottle of brandy every two weeks, very boring! now my BP is normal but it took a year to do it so now I eat sensibly and have one bottle of spirits a week. I long for the old days but still have fun on weekends.
