cant get temp below 81 degrees

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

I'm not sure where i read it.. i think it was on the mother site... but saddles are not as good as pot scrubbers or mesh in a still with a diameter of less than 3"

i would go the scrubbers.. cost nothing (go to party hire places and you can get a box of 12 for about $20) and you just put them in the dish washer to clean em up

i found my problem to be the temp outside one of the guys at work who does a lot of distilling said he only does it in the winter here in kalgoorlie because he has trouble keeping temp down it still came out alright though i shut it down early and only took of 3L but thats alright i know where i went wrong next time thanks for all your help guys its greatly apriciated :D :D

you could use a small pump in a large bucket and add ice to it as the temp of the water rises

You will find that the sensitivity to the outdoor temperature will be reduced if you use scrubbers in your column... The further up your column they extend from the bottom, the more consistent the temperature will remain... Scrubbers, or expensive mesh, will definitely make better packing in smaller columns...
