Strange box sitting on my front porch when I got home

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

What was in the box, was a set of shed Moose antlers. For someone who has only seen whitetail deer (and a couple mule deer, and a few elk), these things are pretty huge.

Here is a pic. NOTE the ruler in the middle is 18" for reference.

those are just tiny ones, my brother has moose with bigger ones than that in his back yard (take a good look around before you head out towards your truck, hate to get stuck between a mother and her calf)

I figured these would be trivial for some of our family from the great white north, but here in corn country, there aint nary a moose to be had. We got shit loads of deer (Some areas are getting up to 150 to 180 animals per square mile, and that WAY too high of a concentration number), but no moose, and only the rouge elk every couple years.

We do finally have a few mountain lions showing up, which I guess it would be hard to keep them out forever, with all that deer flesh on the hoof.

I just thought it was a strange thing to have arrive (that the wife bought, not me), in a friken huge box on the front porch.

I didn't have a clue what Husker was talking about--here's a pic of the front of my place on opening day.

Believe it or not Husker those heads are on thier way to the dump!
Those are Native harvested moose and the powers that be won't let me sell them--you can't eat horn.
'Course the powers that be would prolly frown on some of my other hobby's too.

Rabbits and mice love to chew on shed antlers, they're rich in minerals, vitamins and the like. Course I think a rabbit will chew on anything that's slower than it. :D
