I've never heard that before, maybe they keep that very quiet. The tropical islands that I've lived in and visited didn't use any pesticides on bananas. Have you got a link?

I grow my own, so don't have to worry about it.

If you grow your own, no problem. As for commercial bananas, the pesticides used are generally not a problem if you toss the peel. As for me, I consider the peels to be forbidden from my compost pile.
