Clearing the air

Post by blanikdog »

There may be some folk in this forum who wonder why I posted this in the "Concerning Materials" thread.

"Well said again, fester. ZeroGee is almost certainly a person/s from another forum who find it fun to come here - under an anonymous IP - to stir shit. They are quite gutless hence the anonimity. Fortunately there are only two or threee of them and I'm sure that once they grow up they'll settle down. But dont count on it.

We can always expect this type of post which is basically aimed at undermining the admin here and the fact that this sort of post may endanger the health of new distillers is definately not important to them.

Eventually they will PM new distillers with fantastic promises to come and join their alleged 'elitist' forum and behave in this manner with them. Best to ignore them IMHO. ..."

Perhaps I should explain. Firstly, I am not being critical of the bulk of the 300 odd members in Artisan Distiller. I was in fact invited to be a mod in the forum by its owner Pint-o-Shine and accepted his offer. After a few months I realized that Pint's aim was to disrupt Home Distiller and to create disharmony between the two forums, while my aim was to create harmony between groups of people with similar interests. Eventually I was accused of being an HD 'spy' :)) and had my mod status removed. I left that forum - not because of the loss of mod status, but because my interests and pint's et al. were so opposed - and haven't been back and have no intention of returning.

The following PM from Pint confirms this.

blanikdog, I am greatly disappointed in you. I am certain from my investigations and youtr own admissions, you have been being used as a mole all along. It is unfortunate this had to happen.
In light of that you can still post with the new distillers but that is all.
I think the oak room has to be off limits also.
I am sorry but I feel I have been done an unrepairable wrong I feel I didn't deserve.
I am afraid you have completely lost my trust.

First of all allow me to say I created Artisan Distiller Forums as a libertarian alternative to Home Distiller. Home Distillers ideals and mine are in direct conflict with each other. I do not believe in ruling by dictation. I am a reward/punishment type of person.

When I assessed your capabilities and discovered you were a natural diplomat I thought you would be perfect for settling arguments without dictation. You have a very strong sense of fair play and use that to your advantage. Unfortunately, I discovered to late that you had a hidden agenda. I never realized you want to heal the gaping chasm between the two boards.

These boards are as different as can be and that difference is what allows the free thinkers to come here, converse, socialize and generally enjoy themselves because they have distilling in common. We rarely discuss distilling. We give audience to those who are still enthusiastic and willing to try everything. We allow the show offs to show off without being too critical and definitely without having a condescending attitude. These are our finest attributes here.

You were an unfortunate victim of circumstances. Tater and I once upon a time had a fairly good relationship. He was very amenable. We chatted regularly for about a month. The his real personality started coming through. He showed his susceptibility to easily getting his feelings hurt when his self esteem was injured by a competitive individual such as myself. Once I demonstrated that I had extreme skills in many different arts and sciences other than distilling it became a pissing match.

I too saw the pictures of family and projects. I gave him a web site and a forum and never asked for anything in return. The I found out he was shitting on me behind my back while grinning to my face. The when he started editing my posts that was too much.

So you, maybe unwittingly, have been his mule carrying the burden of gossip. I am thoroughly convinced that you were never purposely giving out information but he has a way of asking question to gather information for his hidden agendas.

Since this damn internet has no checks and balances, trust is a vital part of maintaining reason. Else there is just chaos. It is this chaos that I am attempting to prevent. Because of your closeness with tater I can't trust you.

Growing a sense of cooperation between two entities that are so different results in chaos. The order is maintained through clear and definite delineation. So the reason you are out is not personal it is you personality and want for harmony. There is no room for harmony in such a competition. There are no winners to this competition but it creates the necessary controversy to prevent stagnation. This forum exists purely to create controversy. I know that its existence alone drives tater crazy.

There is another loose lipped one in the Oak room also. I am very close to driving this person out.

I am still seeking harmony yet posts as obvious as Zerogee's clearly are intended to raise the plastics issue, which AD disagree with. I will continue to expose shit stirrers and liars and every so often I may be wrong.

This time I am right.

Well crap. That really sucks, I also go to Pint's forum and never thought it was there for "competition" any more than when I go to "stillsmart" forum.

I just want to talk stilling and learn from others experiences, if there was 10 sites I would probably be on all of them until I decided which 4-6 fit me. But when there is only 3 (that I know of) I will enjoy all three and not degrade or disparage any of them.

I hate when people cause shit just for the sake of doing it. I certainly don't understand the enjoyment they would derive. :?
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Well Ill just say pint hasn't a clue to what I think .Fokes can believe what they want.Plenty of room in this world for many distilling sites.I also have pms from pint ranting about this or that and also have some promising to do very things to me he claims I did to him.Thats nether here or there Hd is a forum to discuss distilling.Anyone who came here to do that hasn't ever had a problem and Im sure never will.As pint indicated in his pm to blank that's not what he wants and has a few on ad who feel the same.Looks to me problems not ours ad is just making it a problem here.
I use a pot still.Sometimes with a thumper

GB2,

Those are nice ideals. We know there are many members who frequent both forums since a large number of the members there, were recruited from this forum. However, there have been a few which have simply 'stirred the shit' so to speak. Unfortunate, but a large part of that stems from the leader who in his own words:
There is no room for harmony in such a competition. There are no winners to this competition but it creates the necessary controversy to prevent stagnation. This forum exists purely to create controversy
I think that sums up pretty well. Pint (and a few others) was (is) a great guy, but even so, when harassment, and downright undermining of the site is happening, no matter how much we would like to keep his experience around here, he simple will NOT be tolerated. Since on the other site there is a shit storm going on about this post, it was time to clearly state feelings from this side.

Hillbilly Rebel: Unless you are one of the people on this site who are legalling distilling, keep a low profile, don't tell, don't sell.
