Re: Coffee
made some coffee rum a while back.
just took a 1/4 lb of high quality coffee beans, and poured 1 litre of white rum over them
allowed to sit for 24 hours
poured the rum off into a bottle and made coffee with the beans.
coffee flavour came over very nicely in the rum (very strong, had to drink mixed)
my favorite was a shot of coffee rum in chocolate milk with a couple ice cubes.

Wippin, er sippin,,I guess I was sippin too much for typing. Another idea I was pondering is if anyone has tried to substitute the maple syrup with cane syrup or mollases then oak, and a couple peppercorns. I am not trying to imitate rum but I would be trying this out on some DWWG. Maybe I will just go ahesad and try it out,, seems to be the consensus and if I dont like it just throw it in with another run later.
Maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong but I have had to log back on 3 times to post this.

Re: Coffee
I too, really like coffee and was wondering how a simple 80 proof infusion would work. Turns out very well. Rapidly (4-6 weeks) flavors and colors the spirit and actually clarified a little bit of haze. I try to use a single layer of
Med roast in whatever size bottle/jug I'm using rather than anymore specific ratio or formula. The results have not been disappointing. The coffee flavors ore obvious without being overpowering and have merged well with the whiskey/brandy I've tried it with.
As a beverage I like it straight up but it mixes well with cola or root beer. It's also been enjoyed 2:1 with a bit of sweetened condensed milk as an after dinner offering.
Again, this was no wood, just a handful of coffee beans in 80 proof white liquor.
